Summer holidays are in the rear-view mirror for many and as we enter the final term of 2026, executive leaders are navigating one of the most complex leadership environments in recent memory. Economic fragility, geopolitical tension, AI disruption, cultural resistance, and workforce burnout aren’t separate challenges, they are converging.
This last stretch of the calendar year demands two things at once: performance and reinvention. Leaders must hit the numbers and modernise their operating models. They must protect trust and accelerate transformation. They must steady their teams and push for new ways of working.
The leaders who will finish the year strong are the ones who can do three things exceptionally well:
- Make sense of uncertainty rather than react to noise.
- Ask sharper, more curious questions instead of relying on old playbooks.
- Spot weak signals early and act before options narrow.
The final term isn’t just a sprint to December. It’s a test of leadership clarity, adaptability, and courage. It’s an opportunity to set the tone for 2027.
With that in mind, take time to think:
- Where are you relying on old assumptions that no longer fit today’s environment?
- What signals are you noticing that deserve attention before they become urgent?
- Which decisions are you delaying, and what’s the real reason behind the delay?
- How clearly have you communicated what “finishing the year strong” actually means for your teams?
- What one leadership behaviour, if strengthened now, would materially improve your momentum into 2027?
As leaders, we can show our people that we are role modelling the changes that all of us want to see. Let’s be better and be the change. Contact me via [email protected] if you would like help to do so.
